The Pewter Gym is open to any and all challengers, unlike the Viridian Gym; the challenging trainer only fights the Gym Leader in a Kanto Standard Regulation Pokémon Battle. The Gym itself has a state of the art battling floor, which can change between a mountainous and desert fighting stage
