A Gym lead by the head of Team Rocket, the only way to get in is to defeat the two bodyguards at the front door, which effectively bans any and all novice trainers coming from Pallet Town. If one is to manage to enter the Gym, they must travel through three gates guarded by more bodyguards (one per gate) until they reach the Team Rocket Leader.

For those lucky enough to survive the hell hole known as Route 1 they arrive at Viridian City a city that is legitimately owned and run by Team Rocket; attempting to capitalize on the emotionally scarred youths by setting up underground gambling dens and various scams and luring youths into spending all of their money. In addition, some trainers decide to end their careers as trainers and remain in Viridian City to set up lives for themselves. Due to the influx of population, the unemployment rate in Viridian City is extremely high.
