Although you are not required to start off as a beginner those who choose to advance through the ranks are entitled to certain privileges. The first of these privileges is being able to capture new Legendary Pokémon after having their Legendary Pokémon request form (see Legendary Pokémon Section). Second Trainers who opt out of starting off with high level Pokémon do not have a maximum cap on the levels their Pokémon can achieve. However, in order to do this the trainer must travel through each of the areas starting at Professor Oak's lab, defeating all eight gym leaders. In addition, new trainers ARE NOT allowed entry into the Indigo Plateau unless they have defeated all eight gym leaders.
