I am not going to insult your intelligence and spell out every little thing exactly as every other RPG forum around has. If you're old enough to be here legally, you're old enough to understand what makes a good character, and forum etiquette. I also trust that you know what will happen if you disrespect staff, spam, or create a Mary Sue of a character. The basic rules are just common sense: Have a quality character, not a perfect one. Don't spam, or disrespect staff. You know the drill. So instead of going on that long spiel, below are just a few basic forum policies.
.) There is no minimum word count. You know when your post is done, and forcing you to write hundreds of words beyond what you need serves no practical purpose. So write as much or as little as you want. If you feel like your post is just fine at a hundred and fifty words, great. If you want to go on for three thousand words, more power to you, and we're not going to force you into it. However, please note that we do not want to see thoughtless one-liners everywhere. Try to have a good-sized paragraph or two if you can; but absolutely no one-liners. You aren’t expected to mirror a thousand-word post, but if the person you’re RPing with posts 1,000 words, don’t reply with 50. Basically, just put thought into it and you’ll be fine.
.) There is no censorship. Anything goes. Real life is not censored. In real life, people swear. They get drunk; they do drugs, and have orgies. We won't stop you from doing whatever you want to your character, so long as it is done in a tasteful manner.
.) Original characters are always welcome. While we do have some canons to choose from, you are more than welcome to create a character entirely from your own mind. Don't feel like you have to play a canon anything like that. Your own characters are perfectly fine. The RPG wouldn't be any fun if it were all canons, anyway. Canon and Original characters interacting together is also encouraged. It makes for good plots. You do not have to stick to the plots you’re your respective fandoms- in fact, we don’t even want you to. Make up your own plots. Also there are additional benefits, rules, and restrictions for those who play cannons or start off as originals.
.) One thing we will standardize about posts is style. You can align your post however you please (we recommend not centering the entire thing, but whatever), however you must post in story format. (i.e. "Bob walked down the street. "Hi," he said to some random dude". NOT: "*walks down street* Hi.".) Also, your posts must be in third-person past-tense.
.) Don't have an overly large signature. Too wide, and it stretches the board. Too tall, and you have to scroll down through an hour of picture to read a post. Signatures should be no wider than 450 (ish), and no taller than about 200. Avatars are to be no bigger than 100 by 100.
.) You can have as many characters (original or canon) as you want. We're not going to place a limit on your characters, since you know what you're capable of, how much time you have, etc. You may have as many characters as you wish, but keep them on a single account- and also make it known who your characters are on said account to avoid confusion. Also, please don't claim every single canon. There is no limit to them, but leave a few for others- we recommend no more than two or three, but it's up to you.
.) There will be literacy! Please, for the love of God, use the spell checker! It’s not hard. All you have to do is move the mouse down a little and click. It takes all of maybe a minute, on a slow connection. Correct spelling makes posts easier to read, and less irritating. Also, please try to use correct grammar. There is no excuse for why someone who is old enough to legally be on ProBoards should not know the difference between “your” and “you’re”. We don’t expect everyone to be perfect- but at least try to use the correct form.
